Steel structure has the advantages of good mechanical properties, light weight, large load, good corrosion resistance, high degree of mechanization of manufacturing and installation, and is widely used in steel structure industrial workshops, multi-storey and high-rise buildings, steel structure residential buildings, etc. In the event of a fire, although the steel structure material cannot be burned, its strong thermal conductivity can quickly transfer heat, and the mechanical properties decrease with the increase of temperature. When the steel reaches more than 600 C, the supporting strength of the steel disappears, causing the building to be destroyed or collapsed, resulting in huge loss of life and property.

 

Fire-retardant coatings play the role of fire prevention and heat insulation in the event of a fire, which can protect the strength of the steel from being affected by high temperatures and avoid the collapse of buildings due to the loss of support capacity. Colloidal Silica has the characteristics of large specific surface area, high surface energy, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and high hardness. During film formation, with the evaporation of water, the colloidal particles remain compact, and the adjacent -OH groups in -Si-OH are dehydrated to form a three-dimensional network coating film cross-linked by -Si-O-Si. Due to the high decomposition temperature of -Si-O-Si-skeleton, the colloidal silica has good high temperature resistance and weather resistance.

 

Add a certain amount of potassium methosilicate to the Colloidal Silica, and potassium methosilicate is combined with the silica sol to form a potassium silicate solution, which is not easy to gel: PMS-40 reacts with CO2 and H2O in the air to form potassium carbonate and methylsilicic acid, and the silica hydroxyl group in the methyl silicate is relatively active.
